Bklyner. November 3, 2022.
As the city’s homeless census reaches an all-time high, residents pushed back against the city’s plans to build a family shelter in Bensonhurst. It would be the only shelter of any kind in the neighborhood.
I spoke to stakeholders (neighbors, parents, politicians, advocates, people experiencing homelessness), analyzed nonprofit documents, read property records, and took photographs for this piece.

When Your New York Landlord is a Corporation
New York City News Service. July 8, 2024.
A year-long team investigation looking into tenants’ lives and housing conditions at several buildings owned by one of New York City’s “worst landlords.” I analyzed data from public databases and from a Freedom of Information Act request using Python/Jupyter Notebooks, read through lawsuits, researched city/state housing laws, and interviewed over a dozen tenants about their experiences living in buildings under “hazardous conditions,” as classified by NYC Housing Preservation & Development.
