With climate change, the seasons get warmer and flowers bloom earlier. Washington D.C.’s cherry blossoms are no exception — for 16 of the past 20 years, the flowers have reached peak bloom earlier than the 100-year average of April 4.

As the city’s homeless census reaches an all-time high, residents pushed back against the city’s plans to build a family shelter in Bensonhurst. It would be the only shelter of any kind in the neighborhood. This is a shortened version of my piece for Bklyner.

Produced a Wordpress-based website for “The Newest New Yorkers” package. Process included designing mockup, choosing photographs, soliciting design feedback from editors, and embedding interactive data graphics.
